I wanted something simple, quick, and illustrated. I wanted something that I could put into practice the same day I got the book. This book was exactly that.I understand there are other books in the series that are much more detailed. I, on the other hand, already understand the theory - what I wanted was actual exercises. Within 24 hours of getting this book I was doing some of the routines with my child. I noticed a difference right away. To be honest, it is entirely possible some of it works because he believes it works - but understanding the theory behind it, I can see the process by which many the exercises produce the result.I would recommend this book as an introduction, or as a supplement to be shared with a child. I used it as both. This is an amazing little book. It is small enough to be able to carry it around and so full of information for the dyslexic that one would want to keep it handy. Who knew that dyslexia could be so effectively treated by physical exercises that retrain the brain to be able to deal with tempero-spatial arrangements of anything one sees? Of course, each person is unique, and no one approach will work best for everyone. Nonetheless, this pair of educators, with extensive experience in teaching children (or adults) how to overcome some of the most embarrassing challenges in today's society, have written a book full of several exercises to do that. This is a gift for which they should be lauded and celebrated. It is a good simple book. It is just a bit short on details such as how you do the movements and what is exactly happening in your body as a result. Basically, it seems to work we don't know why so we won't go too much into it. I am hoping it will help our situation anyway. My son was introduced to a cross midline activity (knee elbow touches while spelling sight words) at school which helped him tremendously with writing and focusing- i purchased for ridiculous price thinking it would explain them in more detail- illustrations are poor quality- explanations are worse quality than the illustrations-i will google them and probably be able to find info for free on YouTube. Waste of money.this is a simple to read book of brain exercises. I think it is maybe designed for children to read. I think it is ot obvious all of the extreme good this will do for "ordinary" people and people dealing with mental challenges. There is soooo much good to come from doing these exercises. It is very worth utilizing it.Love the exercises, but the pictures are kinda creepy. If you dont already know the exercises you will need a manual in addtition to this book. The information in this product could be given in a much more concise means, in a pamphlet for example. I was disappointed to receive so little for so much money. I was also purchasing the teacher's edition, and had read a review that to understand the teacher's book, one needed this book (the student book). Not true. Turns out that the teacher's book has the corresponding pages from this book on each page. All together I was very disappointed--another one of those self-published, self-illustrated (poorly), over-priced books. Shouldn't cost more than $4 or $5, but it does...It took some time for the book to arrive because of the holidays and I only found it outside of the U.S. but it has made a great improvement in my child's cognitive development. So insightful, I bought these as I teach dance to young children and was interested in the interaction of physical movement with cognitive development. Ended up with some wonderfully additions to my daily routine, so useful when I know I’ll be stuck sitting down for much of the day.Did a course on this some years ago. Always regretted not having the book. Very pleased. So useful with anyone of any age. Simple to follow and gets you moving in a coordinated wayVery interestingThis is a classic book that got educators to start thinking about how movement of the body may impact learning. Unfortunately, this book was written before the scientific community started to confirm the impact of exercise on the brain.
